  • ​This iBook project is a focused history of American Big Band leaders post WWII. I highlight several successful leaders, identify their unique traits, and display their role in the evolution of the genre. .
  • ​I designed this lesson to be supplemental material to a unit on Jazz History in a high school jazz band, or even a concert band.
  • By the end of this lesson students will have a basic knowledge of the characteristics of various post WWII Big Band leaders' music .
  • This project supports many of the 'Connect' components of  the new National Standards, tying musical learning to cultural learning.
